HAKUBA DEBUTS NEW NEO CARMAGNE 830/840 CARBON FIBER TRIPODS AT PMA 2002

PMA, ORLANDO, FL -- HAKUBA BOOTH #3412 (February 24, 2002) -- Hakuba USA, a leading manufacturer and distributor of professional-quality photographic, digital and video accessories and equipment, is adding two new tripods to its already successful line of tripods. Being released under the company's Velbon brand, the new Neo Carmagne 830 and 840 models will feature state-of-the art design innovations.
The name Carmagne (pronounced "Carmain") stands for Carbon Fiber and Magnesium. The exciting new Neo Carmagne is optimized for 35 mm SLRs and medium format cameras. This tripod is available in two models: the three section Neo Carmagne 830 and the four section Neo Carmagne 840.
The leg sections are constructed of superior carbon fiber tubing, which is lightweight yet sturdy. The unique carbon fiber material is one-third lighter than traditional aluminum-based tripods and yields a level of strength that far surpasses iron or aluminum. In addition, its composition is excellent for absorbing vibration and resisting temperature changes. Each leg is equipped with durable urethane grip protective covers to prevent scratching.

Weighing just over six pounds, the Neo Carmagne's body and other components are die-cast with magnesium alloy -- creating a compact, well-built tripod.
"We are delighted to be able to offer professional photographers and enthusiasts new and unique tripod designs utilizing the advanced carbon fiber technology," said David Breymeier, national sales manager for Hakuba USA.
Another unique design innovation is Hakuba's new, original Inner Jut Pipe system (patent currently pending). The Inner Jut Pipe system provides a convenient and fast method to setup and collapse the tripod's leg sections by eliminating the circular rotating motion that occurs when the leg locks are disengaged. With this unit, users can now tighten or loosen the tripod leg sections independently.
The tripod can be set up quickly and effortlessly for any shooting situation, with the tripod's versatile and individually adjustable leg spread positions (standard, semi low-angle and full low-angle).
The Neo Carmagne 830 and 840, available in mat black, feature all metal rubber covered collar leg locks; rubber tipped, adjustable metal spikes and a "free" stone bag for extra stability.
